Extremely Rare, R5

NGC Proof 61. Strongly struck. Flashy and attractive. Slight wear to high points of obverse, and chatter in fields as indicated by grade. Reverse far superior with striation lines strongly visible. Unusually misstruck. Extremely rare. 11-20 examples known.

- Rated R5, extremely rare. There are only 6-10 examples.

- Designed and engraved by master engraver John Croker who worked closely with Sir Isaac Newton, who was Master of the Mint at the time of this pattern's striking.

- Curiously misstruck. Very strange for a coin of this type.

As Sir Isaac Newton oversaw the workings of The Royal Mint, master jeweller turned legendary engraver John Croker produced this extremely rare pattern coin. So few are examples of this issue that only six have publicly traded in the last two decades. With an example gracing the Montagu Collection, Murdoch Collection, Douglas-Morris Collection, Pittman Collection and Slaney Collection, this is clearly a must-have for any serious collection of British coinage.
