AEOLIS, Temnos. Circa 188-170 BC. AR Tetradrachm (33.5mm, 16.25 g, 1h). In the name and types of Alexander III of Macedon. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in left field, two monograms above oinochoe within vine tendril. Price 1677 (referencing Glendining & Seaby 2, 15 July 1929, lot 287 [same dies]). Deep iridescent tone. VF. Extremely rare, none in Pella, nor ANS photofile; two (correctly attributed) in CoinArchives.
