EASTERN EUROPE, Imitations of Lysimachos of Thrace. Early-mid 3rd Century BC. Æ (19mm, 3.19 g, 1h). Helmeted head of Athena left / Lion advancing left; c/m: Great god of Odessos reclining left, monogram below, all within oval incuse. Cf. Müller 61-2 for prototype. Green patina, pitting. VF. Rare with left facing Athena.

From the Dr. Michael Slavin Collection.

Although coins of this type are fairly common, and are widely thought to be the products of the Gauls who invaded Thrace after the death of Lysimachos, none of the standard Celtic coin references include them.
