DECAPOLIS, Gerasa. Marcus Aurelius. AD 161-180. Æ (29mm, 20.32 g, 12h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Artemis advancing right, holding bow and drawing arrow from quiver at shoulder; at feet, hound chasing stag right. Spijkerman 8; RPC IV.3 Online 6591; Rosenberger 12; Sofaer 9-10 corr. (rev. description). Brown patina with earthen red highlights. Near VF. Rare.

From the Kenneth S. Abramowitz Collection.

All of the references cited above note either the hound or stag but not both. The Sofaer and RPC specimen, from the Münster museum, clearly shows both, as does this coin. The other specimens are not well preserved so it is unclear if the others are misreadings of the reverse type or if this a rare variety.
