The Republicans. Brutus. Late summer-autumn 42 BC. Fourée Denarius (18.5mm, 2.58 g, 7h). Imitating an official issue of a military mint traveling with Brutus and Cassius in western Asia Minor or northern Greece; Pedanius Costa, legatus. Laureate head of Apollo right / Trophy composed of cuirass, crested helmet, oval shield with incurved sides, and two crossed spears. Cf. Crawford 506/2; cf. CRI 209; cf. Sydenham 1296; cf. RSC 4; cf. RBW 1778 (all references for official issue). Lightly toned, large cut, areas of cracked plating revealing core with some stable green deposits. VF.
