Victoria (1837-1901), 'Shieldback' Sovereign, 1839, first young head left, raised W.W. on truncation, rev. crowned 'normal' shield in wreath, edge milled, 7.96g, 6h (Marsh 23; MCE 500; Bentley 400; Stratos -; Spink 3852), fields burnished and bright, otherwise marginally bolder than very fine, a semi-key date in series, a desirable type-filler thus.
