Victoria (1837-1901), 'Shieldback' Sovereign, 1845, Normal 5, first young head left, raised W.W. on truncation, rev. crowned 'normal' shield in wreath, edge milled, 8.00g, 7h (Bentley 978; Marsh 28; Spink 3852), some superficial scratches around portrait, otherwise pleasingly lustrous, a really bold very fine / about extremely fine, the pre-1850 series seldom encountered in higher grades.
