St. George and Dragon, edges plain (Spink PS15), with Royal Mint case of issue, including: i) Proof Five-Pounds, 1937, 39.86g, 12h (W&R 435; Spink 4074), moderate handling friction in otherwise brilliant fields, good extremely fine with sharp portrait cameoing; ii) Proof Two-Pounds, 1937, 15.97g, 12h (W&R 437; Spink 4075), faint fingermarks in otherwise brilliant fields, much as struck; iii) Proof Sovereign, 1937, 7.99g, 12h (W&R 439; Spink 4076), inconsequential rim bump at 2 o'clock and light friction across brilliant fields, otherwise good extremely fine; and iv) Proof Half-Sovereign, 1937, 4.00g, 12h (Marsh 543A; W&R 442; Spink 4077), minutest trace of handling in watery-brilliant fields, superb portrait cameoing, a handsome little gem, much as struck (4).
