Charles II (1660-1685), 'Rose' Crown, 1662 [undated edge], Type A1, CAROLVS • II • DEI • GRA •, stop after GRA and above head, first laureate and draped bust right, rose below, rev. struck 'en médaille', stop after HIB, crowned shields cruciform, interlinked C's in angles, nine strings to harp, DECVS ET TVTAMEN widely spaced downwards on edge, 29.68g, 12h (Broad [1981] BC1; ESC -; Bull 342; Spink 3350A), the surfaces contact-marked and rubbed to central devices, nevertheless toned, residually lustrous, a bolder fine / very fine, this 'medallic' striking alignment very scarcely encountered.
