NGC Choice XF [Strike 5/5, Surfaces 4/5] | Macedon, Akanthos (480-470 BC), AR Tetradrachm, Lion to right, attacking a bull collapsing to left with head raised; above a theta, bukranion in exergue, rev raised quadripartite square, 17.06g (BMFA 519; Desneux 61 var.; SNG ANS 10), a handsome;y centred and broad striking on an elliptical flan with modest striking splits, otherwise lightly toned, a most pleasingly good very fine, rare, in NGC 'Ancients' holder, graded Choice XF [Strike 5/5, Surfaces 4/5] (Cert. #6295563-001).
