NGC MS [Strike 4/5, Surfaces 2/5] | Byzantine Empire, Constantine IV (681-685), AV Solidus, Ravenna, dN CONSTA-NTINO PP, three-quarter facing bust of Emperor, with short beard, wearing a plumed helmet and cuirass holding a spear and shield, rev. VICTORIA-AVGVSTOR, cross potent on three steps, CONOB in exergue, 4.34g, 6h (MIB - [cf. 57]; DOC -; S -), smoothed and tooled in right reverse field, otherwise lustrous and boldly struck up on an elliptical flan, a handsome extremely fine, an extremely rare variety, in NGC 'Ancients' holder, graded MS [Strike 4/5, Surfaces 2/5] (Cert. #6295562-001).
