Gelon, AR Didrachm, c. 490/85-480/75 BC, nude horseman wearing crested helmet galloping right, preparing to cast javelin held aloft in his right hand, rev. forepart of a man-headed bull with long beard right, 3h (Jenkins, Gela, Group Ia, 3 (O2/R2); HGC 2, 362), struck in high relief without incuse, no legend visible, some flattened but otherwise very fine, a rare early issue.
