The Robert P Ball Cabinet of Ancient Coins | Macedonia, Mende, AR Tetradrachm, c. 460-423 BC, inebriated Dionysos left with kantharos in right hand, reclining upon donkey right, bird perched upon branch in right field, ant below, rev. MENDAION around linear incuse square containing vine with five bunches of grapes, 2h (Noe [Mende] 75; Hoover 545; SNG ANS 341 same dies), considerable porosity and flattening on reverse, obverse darkly toned with some nice details, almost very fine.
