George II silver "Duke of Cumberland - Carlisle Captured" Medal 1745 AU58 NGC, MI-606-264, Eimer-598. 35mm. By A. Kirk & J. Kirk. Obv. The Duke of Cumberland on horseback left, sword raised, city (Carlisle) behind. Rev. The Duke standing right, handing an olive leaf to Anglia seated left, below a prostate rebel with a Papal shield. Struck to mark the retreat of the Jacobite rebels to Scotland. Deeply sculpted and set against smooth fields, there is a real sense of depth to this wonderfully ornate piece. Borderline uncirculated in both appeal and appearance. From the Abbeygate Collection of British Medals
