Victoria bronze "John Henry Chamberlain" Medal 1883 MS64 Brown NGC, BHM-3146, Eimer-1699. 60mm. By J. Moore. Obv. Large bust of Chamberlain, three quarters right. Rev. Detailed facade of Birmingham School of Art. Chamberlain worked largely in the Victorian Gothic style and was a champion of the ideas of the architectural theorist, John Ruskin. With the eye drawn to Chamberlain's beard, the viewer immediately senses the quality of the design and engraving work. On the reverse, the intricate rendering of the Birmingham School of Art gives a similar impression, and remains impressive in every regard. From the Abbeygate Collection of British Medals
