Nicephorus III Botaniates. 1078-1081. BI follis (21.8 mm, 4.19 g, 6 h). Constantinople mint, Struck ca. 1078-1081. anepigraphic, Facing, nimbate bust of Christ, wearing pallium and colobium, raising hand and holding book of Gospels; IC - XC in fields to left and right / anepigraphic, Latin cross, X in center; globule and two pellets at each end; floral ornaments in lower fields. SBCV 1889. Choice VF for type, deeply struck (full facial figures) and well centered on adequate-size, slightly ragged-edge flan; brown patina, a few spots of green on obverse (incipient BD?).
