A pair of Near Eastern stamp seals. The first is in black serpentine with a recumbent antelope, Syria, ca. 8th - 5th Century B.C. , an L-shaped bird(?) or symbol above to lt. The top is domed and well-polished with horizontal suspension hole. 16 x 15mm. The second is an Aramaean/Canaanite black serpentine tabloid stamp seal, North Syria, ca. 1000 - 800 BC, one side featuring a crane and a seated lion facing one another, club or line between. The opposite side is rather illegible and on one side are two quadrupeds. 18 x 12mm. Both are Ex California Museum of Art De-Accession acquired 1989. Est. Value $200 - $300.
