ROMAN IMPERIAL. Constantius II. A.D. 337-361. AV solidus. 4.39 gm. 21 mm. Antioch mint, 8th officina. Struck circa A.D. 355-361. His pearl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust facing slightly right, holding spear and shield ornamented with a horseman spearing a fallen foe; FL IVL CONSTAN-TIVS PERP AVG / Roma, helmeted, and Constantinopolis, turreted with foot on prow and holding scepter, enthroned facing eachother, holding between them a shield inscribed VOT/XXX/MVLT/XXXX in four lines; GLORIA REI PVBLICAE around, SMANH in exergue. RIC VIII 165. Depeyrot 10/1. Near Extremely Fine; with an impressive portrait of exceptionally fine sculptural style, struck in high relief. Rich gold tone.
