Allectus. Romano-British Emperor, A.D. 293-296. Æ antoninianus. 4.64 gm. 21 mm. Londinium (London) mint. His radiate and cuirassed bust right; IMP C ALLECTVS P F AVG / Pax standing left, holding olive branch and scepter; PAX AVG around, S - M across field, ML in exergue. RIC V 28. Choice Extremely Fine; lovely glossy fresh pale green patina; exquisite portrait. A superb example.
With David R. Sear Certificate of Authenticity, with historical and numismatic commentary in which he describes "this superbly preserved antoninianus...an outstanding example of this usurper's billon coinage."
