KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great.' 336-323 B.C. AR tetradrachm. 17.21 gm. 26 mm. Lifetime issue. Kition mint (Cyprus). Struck under Pumiathon, circa 325-320 B.C. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; KT monogram to left. Price 3108. Choice Extremely Fine; deep collection toning on fresh surfaces; fine style portrait, perfectly centered and sharply struck on a full round flan, with flatness on the high point of lion skin, and area of weak strike on Zeus's chest where metal did not fill die.

From a carefully sourced mid-20th century collection of choice tetradrachms struck in the name of Alexander III, formed in the American Midwest.
Purchased from Spink & Sons in London around 1950.
