Faraday, Michael (1791-1867). English scientist, one of the most influential scientists in history, contributed to the study of electromagnetism and electrochemistry; his main discoveries include the principles underlying electromagnetic induction, diamagnetism and electrolysis. Autograph Letter Signed "M Faraday". 1 page, 4 ½ x 7" on folded 7 x 8 ¾", dated 1 April 1840. Faraday writes to "My dear Sir" that he has yet received something from Lady Seymour and Alderman Kelly and asks whether he should write them himself or whether the letter recipient will help; Faraday signs below.
