Rundstedt, Karl Rudolf Gerd, Graf von (1875-1953). WWII German Field Marshal, commander of Army Group A in Battle of France. Commander of Army Group South during the invasion of the Soviet Union, responsible for the largest military encirclement in history, the Battle for Kiev, German Commander-in-Chief in the West, charged with war crimes after the war, but never faced trial because of his age and poor health; born into a Prussian military family, entered Prussian army in 1892, served as a staff officer in WWI. Pair of Autograph Postal Stationary Signed. Spanning two World Wars, both missives are to his wife, Luise "Bila" Agathe Marie v. Götz back in Kassel. In the first, a Feldpostbrief, franked "Warschau 22.3.16, von Rundstedt writes: "Today after three years of war service I have accumulated 27 years of pension, a nice little bundle. Transferring to Castle, have living-dining-bedroom and storage. Share bathroom with shower. Going to ballet with His Ex. Tonight. Today Bernowitz was here (general staff), chief of communications Woyrwch. He did not seem satisfied." The second missive is on a Feldpost card, franked Sept. 26, 1942. Both Very Fine.
