(g) Victoria (1837-1901), 'Shieldback' Sovereigns, 1842, Type IA (2), first small young head, W.W. in relief on truncation, rev. crowned normal shield in wreath, edge milled, 7.94g, 6h; another, similar, 7.91g, 6h (MCE 502; Marsh 25; Spink 3852), the first polished, bolder fine, the second rubbed and lightly contact marked, yet the reverse with a touch of lustre, fine, the reverse better (2).
