(g) Victoria (1837-1901), 'Shieldback' Sovereign, 1864 [Die 42], 'Stub-top 4', Type IB, second larger young head, WW incuse on truncation, rev. crowned normal shield in wreath, edge milled, 7.97g, 5h (MCE 525; Marsh 49; Bentley 454; Spink 3853), lightly bagmarked but residually lustrous, a really good very fine, and an emotive die number for 'the Meaning of Life'.
