George III (1760-1820), gold Third Guinea, 1801, second type, first laureate head right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA., rev. large crown centre, date below, Latin legend surrounding commencing at top, + BRITANNIARUM REX FIDEI DEFENSOR, edge milled (Schneider -; Bull EGC 871 R2; MCE 453; S.3739). Toned with some small nicks on obverse, graded by NGC as MS61.

The gold output for the calendar year of 1801 amounted to £450,242 as Half Guineas and Third Guineas only.

The Latin legends translate on obverse "George III by the grace of God" and on the reverse "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."
