SICILY. Siculo-Punic. Entella. AR Tetradrachm (16.52 gms), ca. 300-289 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 2/5. Brushed.
HGC-2, 293; SNG Cop-984. Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Head of horse left; palm tree to right, 'MHMḤNT (in Punic) below. This beautiful Tetradrachm features an elegant bust of Herakles and a well-struck horse head, the symbol of the Carthaginians, on the reverse. The surfaces show faint brushstrokes, as noted by NGC, but these are difficult to spot and easily overlooked due to the quality of strike and impressive state of preservation. Some porosity is present on the reverse left field, though it is minor.
