CORINTHIA. Corinth. AR Stater, ca. 400-375 B.C. NGC Ch VF. Flan Flaw, Overstruck.
HGC-4, 1834; Pegasi-343. Obverse: Pegasos flying right; Reverse: Helmeted head of Athena left; dolphin above. Overstruck on an unknown undertype and exhibiting various flan flaws, this Corinthian Stater nonetheless displays rather well-struck and nicely preserved details. The surfaces are lightly toned to a steely-gray, enhanced by abundant luster in the fields. An interesting and surprisingly wholesome piece.
