Rx: TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG P M TR P IMP S C Claudius seated l. on curule chair resting on globe, holding branch and resting hand on lap, and placing his feet on a cuirass lying horizontally before him; to l., r., and below him, a helmet, five shields, and two spears.This is the finest portrait of the father of Claudius that we have ever handled. Struck on a broad flan with wonderful medium-dark toning, and without a trace of tooling, pitting or scratches anywhere. EF
