Robert III, groat, first coinage (c. 1390 – 1403), rough tall facing bust with tressure of seven arcs, ROBERTVS DEI GRA REX SCOTORVM, mint mark to obverse has almost been made invisible due to letter 'm' being punched over it, three large pellets to cusps of tressure below crown, very large head with shortened neck, same dies as SCBI vol 35 no. 542A, chin almost touches arc of tressure, rev. DNS P TECTOR MS LIB ATORMS, inner legend, VILLA EDINBVRGH, wt. 2.63gms (S.5164), nice round flan, fine, reverse better
