ISLAMIC. Yemen. Zaydi Imams of the Banu Hamza. Posthumous coinage in the name of al-Mansûr 'Abd-allâh ibn Hamza (AH 583-614 / AD 1187-1217). Mansûrî dirham (AH 644). at-Tawîla.
Lowick cf. 1983 no. 1 for type.
„The mint of at-Tawîla was not known to Lowick 1983. It was a town to the West of San'â, frequently mentioned both in Zaydî and Rasûlid historical sources. al-Khazrajî, 'Uqûd I 73 lists at-Tawîla among the few places which were not in Rasûlid hands: Dhî-Marmar, Bayt Radam, Thulâ, Talammus, Zafâr, Kuhlân of Ibn Tâj ad-dîn and at-Tawîla. It seems that all of these places were used as mints. According to style the die engraver of this dirham and those of Talammus is identical, although the names on the coins differ.Ex Dr. Busso Peus Nachfolger, Auction 421/1419 (2017)."
