JUSTINIAN I (527-565). Lead Pentanummium. Antioch.
Obv: ΔIAΔOCEΩC ("to be distributed") around ΚΘ within circular border.
Rev: Large Є with internal cross
Alhtough this enigmatic lead Pentanummium and the two other realated lots, are listed under uncertain mint in Dumbarton Oaks, they should be attributed to the mint of Antioch like the Pentanummia showing The E with an internal cross. Apparently they have been struck after the earthquake that devastated Antioch in 528 (E=5 and ΚΘ= 28) and have been used as an emergency coinage during the aftermath of this event.
Very rare and of great interest.
