Constantine II, as Caesar, 316-337. Miliarense (Silver, 24 mm, 5.08 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, 334-335. Plain-diademed head of Constantinus II to right. Rev. CONSTANTINVS CAESAR / CONSЄ Four signa. Ramskold, Silver emissions (2018), -. RIC 124 var. (unlisted officina). RSC 81d. Of the highest rarity, the finest of two known examples (the other in Oxford). Minor scratches and small flan fault on the obverse and some scrapes on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.
This extremely rare coin should be grouped with Ramskold's emission 6, redated here to 334/335. It confirms the assumption that officina E struck this type for Constantine Caesar (see Ramskold, Silver emissions (2018), p. 169, Table 3).
