Edward IV (1461?70), First reign, Ryal or Rose?noble of ten shillings, light coinage (1464?70) king standing in ship holding upright sword with a shield bearing the quartered coat of arms, flag with lombardic 'E' to left, rose on ships hull, legend reads EDW?RD DI GR? REX ?NGL S FRANC DNS IB. Rev, crowned leopards in angles within tressure of eight arcs, rose on star in centre, large lis in spandrels, mintmark crown, reads IHC ?VT TR?NSIENS PER MEDIVM ILLORVM IB?T, 7.71g (S.1950; N.1549; cf. Schneider 359?71; Blunt & Whitton VII). Struck on a large imposing flan, legends clear as are all the main details in the King, ship, striations to the sea waves and coat of arms. The reverse, again a strong depiction of all the heraldry with legible legends. Few subtle annealing flaws in the periphery. Good extremely fine, practically as struck.
