Elizabeth I (1558?1603), Sixpence, 1588, Tower mint, Sixth issue, mintmark crescent [1587?89], crowned bust (5A) left, rose to right, legend surrounds ELIZAB DG ANG FR ET HIB REGI. Rev, flat topped coat?of?arms over long cross fourchée, POSVI DEV ADIVTOREM MEV, 2.87g (S.2578A; N.2015). Toned, some scratches, the date clear, parts of periphery showing signs of double striking. About fine, recognised as a key date in the sixpence series, very rare.
