Charles II (1660?1685), Pattern Broad, in silver, 1660, by Thomas Simon, laureate and armoured bust right, CAROLVS II D G MAG BRI FR ET HI REX, reverse crowned shield of arms, MAGNA OPERA DOMINI (MI.463/59; North 2776; M. Lessen, Simon's Milled Gold Coins and Medals of Charles II, BNJ 65 [1995], p.153). Encapsulated by NGC as MS 62 and as such one of the finest known examples.
Thomas Simon produced five different pattern broads, all for a milled coinage.
