Charles II (1660?85), Shilling, 1671, plumes below, second laureate and draped bust right, legend surrounds, CAROLVS II DEI GRATIA. Rev, crowned cruciform shields, interlinked Cs in angles, five strings to Irish harp, plumes at centre, date flanking top crown, reads MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX, 5.93g (S.3376; Bull.520 R2; ESC.1035). Toned with some subtle haymarking, underlying mint brilliance. The plumes on both sides well struck clearly showing the variety, good depth to the Kings portrait and hair, fully centred in strike. Good very fine, very rare.

Shillings produced with the plumes mark both sides signify silver sourced from the Welsh mines within the county of Cardiganshire, they were minted on the following dates; 1671, 1673, 1674, 1675, 1676, 1679, 1680/79. In 1674 the Plume on the reverse only had been struck and in 1677 and 1679 a plume purely on the obverse die. Essential varieties for the discerning milled Shilling collector.
