William IV (1830?37), Proof Sovereign, 1831, second bust right, nose points to second I in legend, broad and flat ear, W.W. incuse with stops, toothed borders, legend surrounds GULIELMUS IIII D G BRITANNIAR REX F D. Rev, crowned quartered shield of arms within frame, ANNO 1831 below, edge plain (S.3829b; W&R?261; Nobleman 205/6; Montague 1084; Marsh 16d). A first rate example of the second bust 1831 plain edge proof, cameo surfaces both sides with superb pin point precision in both the portrait and legends. Reverse shield lightly frosted, some raised die flaws. Graded and encapsulated by PCGS as PR64 DCAM, practically as struck.
