Victoria (1837?1901), Sovereign, 1857, second young filleted head left, W.W. incuse on truncation for engraver William Wyon, date below, reads VICTORIA DEI GRATIA. Rev, crowned quartered shield of arms, laurel wreath surrounding, emblems below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF, (S.3852D; Marsh 40). Lustrous gold toning, a fusion of yellow and honeycomb orange, the obverse legend showing what appears to be A over A in Victoria and 7 over 7 in the date. Some contact marks otherwise mint state with an excellent supporting provenance.
