George VI (1936?52), Gold proof Set, four coin set issued in 1937, Coronation year, Five Pounds, Two Pounds, Sovereign and Half?Sovereign, with bare head of King left, HP raised below for designer Humphrey Paget, legend and outer border surrounding, GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP. Rev, Saint George slaying the dragon right, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right of exergue for Benedetto Pistrucci, edges plain, housed in original maroon Royal Mint case, also with its cardboard case and its official long green box, mintage 5,501 (S.PS15; W&R: 435,437,439, 442). Lustrous brilliant toning on each piece, the usual faint hairlines and toning spots on the half sovereign, otherwise brilliant uncirculated. Complete with a letter from the Totteridge Barclays Bank manager direct to the mint, procuring the set on the 3rd April 1937.
