William I 'The Lion' (1165?1214), Short cross and stars, joint Edinburgh and Perth mints, Phase B [c.1205?1230], moneyer Walter, crowned profile bust left rows of pelleted hair within beaded circle, legend surrounds +LE REI WILAM. Rev, voided short cross, four stars of five points in angles, legend reads HVE WALTER O, 1.44g (S.5029; SCBI 35 [Scottish], 65). Fully centred strike, neat bust with legends legible. Rev, underlying mint bloom across the surfaces, moneyer script legible. Good very fine.
