Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right / She-wolf standing right, suckling twins; overarching branch of tree above, S R in exergue. Von Aulock, Lykaoniens 360; SNG von Aulock 5394 (same dies); SNG Righetti 1460 (same obv. die). Smooth brown patina with light earthen fields. EF. A handsome piece.

Iconium, now the city of Konya in south-central Turkey, is a bronze age settlement that was refounded a s a Roman colony under the emperor Claudius. It was visited by the Apostle Paul on his first missionary journey circa AD 47-48.
