An interesting engraver's error on the obverse die featuring the abbreviation flanking Christ's head beginning with the characters for the Theotokos and ending with those proper to Christ. Evidently a mistake made during the engraving process which was subsequently adjusted to the correct characters for Christ halfway through engraving the die. We could find only one other example in CoinArchives of this interesting obverse die.
