Transylvania, Sigismund Bathory, Thaler Nagybanya 1593

Transylvanian thaler of Prince Sigismund Bathory (1586-1599), nephew of the Polish king, Stephan Bathory.

In the obverse legend, the letter O is overstruck into R, at the end of the inscription on the obverse. The engraver probably made a mistake and put the letters in the wrong order, hence the puncture.

Well preserved coin with only slight wear on high points and a fair amount of mint luster.

Obverse: torso of the prince in armour, to the right, a cross in front of him

Talar siedmiogrodzki, księcia Zygmunta Batorego (1586-1599), bratanka króla Polski, Stefana Batorego.

W legendzie awersu przebita litera O na R, pod koniec inskrypcji awersu. Rytownik zapewne pomylił się i ustawił litery w złej kolejności.

Ponadprzeciętnie zachowany egzemplarz z fragmentami menniczej świeżości, szczególnie w zakamarkach.

Ładnie zachowane detale.
