Canada Province of Canada, Montreal 5 Dollars 1.10.1866 PC-4a PMG Choice Fine 15. An exceptional early issue payable to Montreal and graced by the signature of the Deputy Receiver General (T.D. Harington). This rare example features a lovely portrait of Queen Victoria on the left while a vignette of a sailboat sits on the right. An amazing centralized vignette of the coat of arms flanked by a seated allegory and a lion add desirability to this note. Ornamental designs encompassing denominational values enhance the back. All design elements remain clear on this wonderful piece. These notes were redeemable at the Receiver General's office in the city of Montreal. Highly collectible, with this being only the second time we have offered, the last being in 2006.
