Collecting African banknotes is a thoroughly enjoyable endeavor, as there are a plethora of rarities to keep the collector constantly on alert. This utterly fantastic and extremely rare 1000 Francs is certainly missing from even the most complete collections. We have not offered this type in the past in any format, and it is the first and only issued example graded in the PMG Population Report. Some tears, edge roughness and pinholes are mentioned for accuracy. All design elements are on full display and the visual appeal is quite good considering the size of this note and the climate which it circulated. A key note for Africa which also appeals to collectors of French and colonial types.
