THESSALY, Thessalian League. Circa 150-100 BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 5.49 g, 12 h), struck under the magistrates Dikaios and Onasimbrotos. Head of Zeus to right, wearing oak wreath. Rev. ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩN / ΔI-KAI[OC] / O-N/A/C-IM/B-P/P/OTOC Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear with her right hand and extending shield in her left. BCD Thessaly II 880.1 (same dies). HGC 4, 210. Struck from fresh dies. Nearly extremely fine.
It is not certain whether the second P in the magistrate's name Onasimbrotos is part of the name, thus an engraver's error, or a monogram. If a monogram, it looks from this coin that it should be deconstructed to the Greek letters TP.
