BAKTRIA, Pre-Seleukid Era. Sophytes, circa 305-294 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 3.94 g, 6 h), uncertain mint in the Oxus Region. Male head to right, wearing a crested Attic helmet decorated with a laurel wreath on the bowl and a wing on the cheek guard. Rev. ΣΩΦΥΤΟΥ Rooster standing to right; in field to left, kerykeion. Cf. Bopearachchi, Sophytes 3 (hemidrachm). HGC 12, 14. SNG ANS 21-4. Well centered and bold. Minor porosity, otherwise, good very fine.
