Bahamas 1974 (ND 1984) P-48a PMG Gem UNC 66 EPQ 50 Dollars
The 50 and 100 Dollar banknotes from the Bahamas have always been considered modern rarities, with limited print runs and a lack of consistent supply on the collector's market. Add to that a heavily collected country with dedicated collectors, and it should not come as a surprise that most high grade notes of those two denominations are tightly held in advanced collections, with few fresh examples appearing on the market. Here is such a note, coming from an advanced collection, which is surpassed in the PMG population report by just two better examples. It has the first signature of W.C. Allen as Governor, and would make for an ideal type representative of this difficult Queen Elizabeth II issue.
