British Guiana, British Guiana Bank ND (ca. 1890s) P-S112p PMG Extremely Fine 40 20 Dollars (Proof)
Clearly based on the White Notes of Great Britain, this 19th century issue for the first bank in British Guiana is seldom seen in any form. Printed on cardstock, this proof has a specimen overprint, and is of the 20 Dollars, which appears to have been the second highest denomination. The Bank of British Guiana was founded in the 1830s and would exist until 1913, when it was taken over by the Royal Bank of Canada. Examples of this issuer are seldom offered for sale and are an important artifact of the colony's economic history. PMG mentions "Corner repair; previously mounted".
