France 20.7.1939 P-97a PMG Gem UNC 65 EPQ 5000 Francs
A very popular high denomination note from France, issued shortly before the outbreak of World War II. Gems are very scarce, and only recently have turned up in the marketplace. We sold a PMG 66 EPQ example recently for $5,750 after spirited bidding, and we expect this Gem to perform well as well when it crosses the auction block in this sale.
